Foreign professionals in Italy

This area provides information to foreign professionals that have obtained their professional qualifications in European or non European countries and wish to pursue the profession in Italy, in order to register, according to law, with one of the Italian Orders.
This project has been planned and developed by the CNAPPC's General Secretariat under the supervision of the Foreign Affairs Department Secretariat.

In Italy, foreign professional qualifications (the so-called professional recognition) are recognized as follows:
  • for professional qualifications issued in EC countries, the EC legislation is applied in compliance with the Legislative Decree no. 206 of 9th November 2007 "Implementation of Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications and of Directive 2006/100/EC adapting certain Directives in the field of mobility, by reason of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania".The Italian authority  can  grant  the  recognition subject to a  further compensatory     measure, such as an aptitude test or a period of supervised practice for the purpose of qualification adjustment;
  • for professional qualifications issued in non EC countries, the Presidential Decree 394/99, art. 49-50, is applied in conjunction with the Presidential Decree no. 334/04, which grants to professional qualifications, awarded in non EC countries, the possibility to be officially recognized in Italy, by complying to compensatory measures.
