Status in respect of EC Directive 384/85

Diplomas, Certificates and other educational qualifications which are the subject of mutual recognition among EU member states (Official Journal of the European Communities, 04.12.99)

for students who started their architectural education before the 1988/1989 academic year, the diplomas to be recognised are as follows :
- those which are referred to in Article 11 of EC Directive 85/384 of 10 June 1985

for students who started their architectural education after the 1988/1989 academic year :

Preceded in each case by either a first degree in architecture awarded (after training lasting at least three years full-time or four years part-time ( 2 ) by one of the named universities or colleges) or by the Intermediate Examination of the Architectural Association or the Examination Part 1 of the RoyalInstitute of British Architects. These diplomas, degrees and examinations are to be accompanied in each case by a certificate issued by the Architect's Registration Board confirming that the qualifications comply with Directive 85/384/EEC and are recognised by the Board for admission to the Statutory Register of Architects
