The National HomeBuilder Design Awards recognise the importance of design excellence in new homes, showcasing the latest innovative and attractive developments.
Category ONE : BEST HOUSE OF ONE OR TWO STOREYS
of contemporary or vernacular design
Category TWO : BEST HOUSE OF THREE OR MORE STOREYS
of contemporary or vernacular design
Category THREE : BEST INTERIOR DESIGN OF A NEW HOME
Category FOUR : BEST APARTMENT BUILDING not being a conversion
Category FIVE : BEST RENOVATION AND CONVERSION
from non-residential to residential use,or from a single house into apartments
Category SIX : BEST USE OF A BROWNFIELD SITE
not being a renovation/conversion (see category 5). Entries will be judged on the quality of the environment before and after development.
Category SEVEN : BEST HOUSE OF THE FUTURE being a completed building, not a concept or project design.
This will be judged on innovative design and sustainability in terms of construction and materials, conser vation of energy and water;adaptability, accessibility and the use of technology.
Category EIGHT : BEST RETIREMENT DEVELOPMENT judged on external and interior design,layout, landscaping,security and the provision of services and communal facilities.
Category NINE : BEST MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT being a scheme of houses and/or flats with associated retail,office or leisure development on the same site
Category TEN : BEST SOCIAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
for rent,shared ownership or sale by a registered social landlord, charity, trust or public body in partnership with a local authority and/or a developer
Category ELEVEN : BEST LANDSCAPING OF A DEVELOPMENT by a named landscape architect,designer or contractor,judged on the scale,quality and innovative nature of the spaces,planting and structures
Category TWELVE : BEST SMALL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
being a scheme of up to 20 houses and/or flats, completed in 2002/3 (including any completed phase of a larger development)and judged on overall quality of the design,layout and landscaping
Category THIRTEEN : BEST LARGE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
being a scheme of more than 20 houses and/or flats, completed in 2002/3 (including any completed phase of a larger development)and judged on overall quality of the design, layout and landscaping
Category FOURTEEN : BEST HOUSING PROJECT OF THE YEAR
being a scheme of at least 6 houses and/or flats that is due to start on site or be completed in the year 2004 or later.

Descrizione:

The Copper in Architecture Awards promote and reward excellence in design by architects and students, as well as craftsmanship by installers. To be eligible, all entries must incorporate cladding, roofing or other architectural elements of copper or copper alloys, such as bronze. Awards will be presented at a ceremony in London in September 2005. All winning and commended projects will feature in extensive press coverage, including a special supplement in Architectural Review. A selection of entries will be displayed at the presentation.
Innovation Award
A discretionary award for projects demonstrating innovation in an area of particular relevance to current design issues. All entries, in all categories, will automatically be reviewed for this award by the jury. Entries are judged from photographs, drawings and other material submitted, by a group selected from the following panel of architect judges:
· Laurence Bain - Bain and Bevington Architects
· Trevor Clapp - Foundation Architecture
· Peter Clegg - Feilden Clegg Bradley
· Pierre Long - de Blacam and Meagher (previous winners)
· Graeme Sutherland - The Bartlett School of Architecture
· Stas Louca - Glas Architects+Designers (previous winners)
· Gordon Talbot - Ian Ritchie Architects (previous winners)

Manser Medal for the Best One-off House in the UK - Regno Unito

The Manser Medal, sponsored by Abrocour in association with The Best of British Homes is awarded for the best one-off house designed by an architect in the UK.

The award is judged by a panel including Michael Manser CBE, former President of the RIBA; Jamie Fobert, architect, winner of the 2003 Manser Medal; Michael Hanson of co-sponsors The Best of British Homes; David Birkbeck of Design for Homes; and Tony Chapman, RIBA Head of Awards.

The Black House in Cambridgeshire, built from pre-painted corrugated fibre-cement sheeting, was the the Manser Medal winner in 2004 for the best one-off house designed by an architect in the UK. Designed by Mole Architects, the house beat off stiff competition from three other new architect-designed houses to take the prize.
