The UIA congress will be held in Tokyo, from 25 to 28 September 2011. It will be followed by the UIA General Assembly, from 29 September to 1st October 2011.

The 116th UIA Council Meeting was held on June 5th and 6th 2011 in Singapore, and the Council carefully examined the current situation in Tokyo after March 11th, when huge earthquakes and tsunami devastated Northeast Japan.

The scope of the prize is to highlight works, activities and actions that contribute in an efficient manner to the betterment of the living conditions of the underprivileged living below the poverty level, through improvements to their habitat and their environment.

The 2011 session of the UIA prizes met in the city of Nanjing, China on 11 April 2011. Having reviewed all the candidatures proposed by the UIA Member Sections that fulfilled the requirements, the jury came to the following decisions.

The Coordinating Council of the UIA Congress, UIA2011 TOKYO, met on April 8th and 9th in Tokyo and, examined very carefully the current situation after March 11th when huge earthquake and tsunami devastated the Northeast Japan.
